O'Leary hits them with the old 1-2 Mehman defeated stablemate Primo Uomo for another same '1-2' for trainer Ger O'Leary today, landing Dundalk's opening Leading Trainer&Jockey Championship Handicap. The pair met at the course on January 4 when Mehman landed a gamble to defeat Primo Uomo snugly by a neck, and today Mehmad (the well backed 7/5 favourite) arrived from off the pace to again defeat his same stablemate, but by an effortless three lengths. O'Leary's other runner Aloysius Lilius finished fifth-place having filled seventh place in the January 4 race. The trainer said “it is a long time since I didn't have to roar or shout or get excited! It was over wasn't it. "He travelled like a dream and Mark (Enright, winning jockey) said he thought he was as dead as a doornail going to the start but was just asleep.” He added “we'll come back here in two weeks for a five furlong (0-95 handicap) and then we will take it from there. Mark said he will get six (furlongs) but to stick to five for the time being anyway. Wearing the red hood (going down to the start) is a big help to him as well. "Primo was the bridesmaid again but is still showing plenty of dash." Quotes from Michael Graham
