Most Peculiar (7s into 11/2) belied a concern about the suitability of the two mile trip when landing the 100,000 Euro Tote Picks Guarantee Maiden Hurdle at Galway.
The favourite, Tandem and Draco both traded odds-on in running but the Paul Townend-ridden Most Peculiar toughed it out best on the run-in to account for that pair by three parts of a length and two and a half lengths.
Townend stated: "He was tough and brave. He learned a lot from the first day (when runner-up to King Leon at Ballinrobe) and after jumping a bit big over the first couple here he warmed to it well."
The OMG Partnership that owns Most Peculiar, hail from Offaly, Mayo and Galway – hence the name.
Willie Mullins, trainer of Most Peculiar, was registering his second winner of the week following on from McKinley on Monday (also ridden by Townend).
Andrew J.McNamara, rider of Tawseef trained by Colin Bowe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount got tightened on the bend leading to the final hurdle and collided with the running rail.
