A generally fine and dry day yesterday was good news for many racecourses throughout the country but has made little immediate difference to ground conditions ahead of the three-day Easter weekend meetings at both Fairyhouse and Cork.
The going at Fairyhouse remains heavy following 0.3mm of rain in the past 24 hours.
The forecast is for sunshine and showers with up to 10mm (approx.) of rain predicted through to Monday's BoyleSports Irish Grand National fixture.
Clerk of the course Brendan Sheridan said, "We will have about six yards of fresh ground on both the hurdle and chase tracks for Sunday and Monday.
"As everyone knows, we've had a lot of rain over the past few weeks and the ground is heavy. Met Eireann is telling us that we will have scattered heavy showers over the next few days."
Cork remains heavy (Flat) and soft to heavy, heavy in places (National Hunt) following a welcome dry day.
Light showers with the possibility of 2-4mm of rain is forecast for the southern venue by Met Eireann.
