Nina trains her first winner with Blaze "It's up there (with her biggest and best wins in the saddle) and I'm delighted but that'll probably be it for a while at least," was Nina Carberry's initial reaction to Blaze Of Fire getting her off the mark as a trainer. Carberry, recently announced as Noel Meade's new racing assistant, had just watched Blaze Of Fire overcome a little scare at the second last in the Malton.com Handicap Chase at Killarney. Mark Walsh did the steering on Blaze Of Fire and in the J P McManus silks the Kildare rider got him home by four and a half lengths from Old Supporter. Carberry went on to further explain: "I start my new full time job on Monday. "All the horses I have myself will run for Noel (Meade) but I'm not sure what's going to happen with Blaze. He might still run for me maybe. "The ones I own myself though will run for Noel. "It'll give me more experience – working with one of the leading trainers in the country. "This fella is a good jumper. Sometimes he loses he concentration (like at the second last) and hopefully he'll win a few more. "I'm delighted to have a winner for J P – he's a great supporter of mine and of everyone in the game." (TW & EM)
