News At Six was the second 'busy' Jim Bolger trained winner of the evening at Fairyhouse today, following up Friday's win at the Curragh with an easy odds-on (4/9f) win in the Ratoath Garden Centre Rated Race
Bolger's Tobann earlier landed the featured Brownstown Stakes having finished second at the Curragh on Saturday and while Tobann had noting 'in hand' in the Group 3 contest, News At Six qualified for his event under a fixed five pounds penalty, despite being raised 15lbs in future handicaps.
Both winners were partnered by Bolger's son-in-law Kevin Manning and while the trainer was absent, his representative Ger Flynn later stated “Kevin said he handled the ground very well and felt they probably they went plenty hard but that he picked up really well.
“He felt today the track didn't really suit him the way it was laid out, as he was getting unbalanced a lot on it.”
