Never Again racing from 8lb out of the handicap proper, swooped late and wide to spring a 28/1 shock in the mile handicap at Cork this afternoon. Oiche Mhaith Boy battled his way to the front in the closing stages of the final furlong only to be trumped close home by John Joe Walsh's charge.

Rory Cleary had settled his mount towards rear in the early stages before coming wide in the straight. She started to motor inside the final furlong and got up for a head success.

The winner had failed to show much in four maiden starts last season and was making her handicap debut today off the basement mark of 47.

"She improved from last year and is a nice filly who needs a cut. She should get a bit longer," said Walsh afterwards.

The daughter of Jeremy is owned by Una Fitzpatrick who is based in Kanturk.
