Nahori another nice pick up for Gibney and Haigney Nahori was nibbled at in the market at big prices and made a winning debut for Tom Gibney in the seven-furlong maiden at Dundalk. The Night Of Thunder filly traded as big as 66/1 this morning and went to post an 18/1 shot on her racecourse bow. Robert Whearty produced his mount to challenge a furlong from home and she got on top in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-quarter length win over Gioiella. The winner was bought from Godolphin for 17,000gns at the July Sales in Newmarket. She is a half-sister to Atavique, who won twice for the same connections last year. Gibney said: "Kevin (Haigney) spotted her at the sales - she had her problems over there and they didn't get her to the track. "We said we would give it a go training her and if we got her there, great, and if we didn't, Kevin was keen to breed from the family anyway. He is already breeding from her sister. "Either way, we were delighted to have her. She has a fantastic attitude like her sister. "She did a couple of nice bits of work and we were hoping she would run well, so we are very pleased. "It looks like it (get another furlong) there today. "Job done and we can relax for a couple of days!" (Quotes by Michael Graham)
