Conditions have improved considerably at Naas over the past 48 hours and the prospects of Sunday’s Flat meeting, the second of the new turf season, going ahead appear much brighter.
The three sprint races on the original programme were replaced by a couple of seven-furlong races earlier this week due to waterlogging and the County Kildare track was deemed unfit for racing on Wednesday after further heavy rain.
However, with just a further 4mm of rain since entries the course is now fit for racing although the going is described as heavy this morning.
There is the possibility of a further 4-9mm (approximately) of rain prior to racing according to Met Eireann and officials will continue to monitor the situation.
There is over €150,000 in prize money on offer at Naas with the seven-race card including the Irish Racing Writers Cliff Noone Memorial Madrid Handicap which was won last year by Paddington.
There is also jumping action on Sunday at Limerick where the going remains heavy following 7.5mm of rain since entries.
A further 3mm (approx.) of rain is possible prior to racing.
