"I'd like to think she can win another bumper and then go hurdling and work towards the nice mares' novice hurdle at Down Royal at the end of the autumn," said Patrick Mullins after Mystic Theatre justified odds of 3/10 at her ease in the concluding Tipperary Mares (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race.
She's now a dual point-to-point and bumper winner and here Mrs Rose Boyd's King's Theatre mare tracked the leader, before making progress to dispute after six furlongs.
Willie Mullins' charge then led halfway, and she travelled well to draw clear under two furlongs out. From there she stayed on well for a very easy ten length win over Papal Valley
"She was a little unlucky at Punchestown when she didn't get a clear run at a vital stage and her poor run at Naas was just the heavy ground so we decided to keep her in for the summer," elaborated the winning rider.
The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Liam Walsh, that Mr D.J. Benson, rider of Classic Shantou had weighed in at 1.1lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount had perspired profusely and a light cloth had been added to his equipment unknown to him and this had absorbed the moisture. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr D.J. Benson was in breach of Rule 231 and cautioned him having taken his previous record into consideration. .
