Murtagh wins Kinane's race Johnny Murtagh landed the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes, run this year in honor of his old sparring partner, Michael Kinane, when he got Bewitched up to deny Croisultan by a neck in the six furlong event. Croisultan soon led and the 14/1 shot looked likely to give Liam McAteer a big success as the runners approached the business end. However Murtagh forced the victorious grey daughter of Dansili up close home to win. Murtagh was completing a double having earlier won on Steinbeck. Winning trainer Charles O'Brien, whose mother Jacqueline was in attendance, said: "She had traffic issues last time. They went a good pace and that's what she wants. We've given up on five and seven with her and this (six furlongs) is her trip. "She handles all ground and as there is nothing much left for her that could be it for the season. I'm not sure about plans after that."
