No Irish-trained horse has won the £200,000 Coral Scottish Grand National since 1869 but Willie Mullins could bid to end the 155-year famine as he’s responsible for ten of the 71 entries for the four-mile stamina test at Ayr on April 20.
Macdermott appreciated a step up to three miles when scoring in decisive fashion at Fairyhouse on Monday and is rated the main threat among the Mullins entry at 14/1 with the sponsors.
Aime Desjy also scored in good style at Gowran Park last time and is another notable entry from Closutton, while Galvin is one of four entries from the Gordon Elliott yard.
Flash De Touzaine ran a cracker when third to Kitty’s Light at Ayr 12 months ago and the Liz Doyle-trained gelding is rated a 20/1 shot to go two places better.
The sponsors bet: 10/1 Kitty’s Light, Git Maker, Anglers Crag, Sail Away 12/1 Beauport, Inis Oirr 14/1 Elvis Mail, Autonomous Cloud, Macdermott, Stay Away Fay, Galvin 16/1 Aime Desjy, Chemical Energy, Famous Bridge, Flower Of Scotland, Kinondo Kwetu, Mahler Mission, Major Dundee, My Silver Lining, Sine Nomine, Spanish Harlem, Twoshotsoftequila, We’llhavewan, 20 Bar
