Mullins sends small but select team to Sligo

There are jumps and Flat meetings today with an afternoon fixture at Sligo and all-weather action under the lights at Dundalk this evening.

The going at Sligo is currently described as yielding to soft, yielding in places, ahead of a seven-race card beginning at 1.50pm.

There was 13mm of rain at the north-western track on Wednesday with a dry day yesterday. The forecast is blustery and unsettled today with the possibility of a further 10mm of rain.

Willie Mullins sends just the two runners to Sligo but could record a first and last race double with Tax For Max and newcomer Fun Fun Fun both leading fancies.

The battle for the Flat jockeys’ championship continues at Dundalk this evening with Colin Keane and Billy Lee both with six rides on an eight-race card beginning at 5pm.

Keane holds a slender lead (85-84) at present.

An unsettled weather forecast looks like producing testing conditions over the weekend.

The going at Leopardstown remains soft following 3mm of rain overnight with further showers today (4-5mm approx.) ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s meeting.

There is also Flat action at the Curragh on Sunday. The going on the Straight course remains soft, soft to heavy in places, while the Round course is soft.

There was 2mm of rain overnight, with further rain forecast both today and Sunday morning (20-25mm approx).

The Ladbrokes Munster National is the highlight at Limerick on Sunday. Following 9mm of rain the going is currently yielding to soft, soft in places, with up to a further 15mm (approx.) of rain likely before racing.
