Emmet Mullins trained his second winner and his first on the Flat when Bittern supplied Wayne Lordan with a double by landing the spoils in the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap at Dundalk.
Lordan had been on the mark in the opener on Victorious Secret for the Tommy Stack yard, and here aboard Bittern for the first time he wasn't to be denied.
Successful back in May at Pontefract when with Godolphin and Charlie Appleby, Bittern (a 15,000 guineas purchase in July) built on her course and distance second placing from three weeks back by holding off Ringside Humour by a head.
"That's my first Flat winner. She ran a cracker here the last night and just had a bit of natural improvement. That's a nice pot to win," said Mullins.
"For a three-year-old filly she's tough and hardy to get a mile-and-a-half.
"We were lucky that Wayne was available and he gave her a great ride. Thankfully we had him in our corner as he's a great asset.
"She has a nice pedigree and I'd say we'll stick to the Flat with her."
