Eddie Lynam had a one two in the 6.40 and Willie Mullins repeated the feat half-an-hour later in the featured Gleneagle Summer Cabaret Chase but again the order was not as many punters expected with 10/1 shot Davenport Democrat easily defeating 2/1 favourite, Irish Invader
In front away from two out in the hands of Davy Condon, the chestnut wasn´t extended to triumph by three lengths over the Ruby Walsh partnered runner-up. The outsider of the five runners, Davenport Democrat was registering his tenth win.
Mullins said, "I´m delighted with that. He seemed to have lost his form on his last few runs and I told Davy going out to ride him where he was comfortable and the change of tactics may have been a big help to him. He´s not entered in the Galway Plate as he has disappointed a few times at Galway and we´ll keep him to flatter tracks."
The Carlow handler was also happy with Irish Invader saying, "He´ll go for the Plate and he looks like he is making nice improvement. Hopefully he´ll be alright at Galway as his half-brother, General Idea won the Plate." Mullins later doubled-up in the bumper with Sir Vincent under his son Patrick.
