Mrs Bouquet and Ronan Whelan were strongest at the finish of the five furlong DundalkStadium.com Handicap.

Danny Sheehy sent Red Cymbal into the lead and the pair blazed away at the head of affairs.

They still held the lead well inside the final furlong but Mrs Bouquet really found her stride at the business end to sweep by with 100 yards to go.

She won going away by a length to reward a gamble from 10/1 to 13/2.

Runner-up Red Cymbal was an 11/2 shot and was a length and a quarter clear of third-placed Aloysius Lilius (7/2 from 6/1).

Trainer Jack Davison said: “She’s a nice filly that was trained in England by Mark Johnston and Garrett (Freyne) decided to send her to me.

“She showed a bit of form on her penultimate start for me and we were hopefully that in a slightly weaker race she would be able to get competitive.

“I wouldn’t be afraid to run her over six with a good pace and quick ground is what she wants.

“She’d had quite an intense campaign in England and Garrett felt a bit of a break and a change of scenery might help to recapture her form.”
