Favourite Presenting Beara lost his chance with a bad mistake with well over a circuit to go in the Tuskar Rock Beginners Chase at Wexford but there was still home county success as Yvonne Latta got off the mark in the training ranks courtesy of the Davy Condon-ridden Most Chaste
The aforementioned Presenting Beara was soon pulled up but at the head of affairs top point-to-point mare Most Chaste (10/1) got the better of Wells China by four and a half lengths.
Mother of amateur rider Andrew, Mrs Latta explained: "That's my first track winner and it is nice to do it in Wexford on home territory.
"I have the license since May and I train between Enniscorthy and Bunclody in Ballycarney.
"She likes better ground, she doesn't like heavy ground and it's just summer soft today.
"She was champion point-to-point mare and I'm delighted for her owners as they kept her to breed, that's the game there in.
“She is a real tough and genuine mare who'll give you her all every day. She ran a super race behind She's Got Grit in Mallow last year and she was in great form today.
"I have four in for the summer and I'll have to go home and have a think about where she will go next now.
"She is well rated over hurdles and was fifth at Kilbeggan the last day.
"She jumped so well today and she was always travelling well. She is just a very nice mare to have around the place."
Catherine and Charles Harold-Barry, the winning owners, are from Buttevant.
The Stewards fined R.T. Dunne, declared rider of Knocklayde Vic €200, under Rule 196, for failing to present himself to be weighed out within the time fixed for this race, necessitating a change of rider. The Stewards granted permission for B.F. Cawley to replace R.T. Dunne on Knocklayde Vic.
R.M. Power, rider of Presenting Beara trained by C.A.Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a bad mistake, losing all chance and pulled up.
