The Michael Winters trained Missunited justified odds-on 4/7 favouritism as she took the opener at Ballinrobe this evening, the Tote Jackpot Races 3 to 6 Maiden over 1m 6f.
The daughter of Golan just went down by a short head to Oilily over the same distance at Leopardstown last month and after that cracking effort she was strongly fancied to oblige today under Seamie Heffernan. Train Of Thought (4/1) made the early pace under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld with Missunited settling in second.
The winner was then sent to the front before halfway and was ridden over two furlongs out before staying on well in the straight to score comfortably by two and three parts of a length from Train Of Thought in second.
The front pair went thirteen lengths clear of the third placed horse who was Morning Ireland for Christy Roche and Fran Berry.
Michael Winters said afterwards: "We are delighted with that. It looked like she laboured a bit but that's her ground and she is very honest.
"She is not qualified for a novice hurdle we had our eye on at Listowel but we will find another one for her somewhere."
The winning 5yo was recording her fourth career success today from eight runs and she now has a maiden win on the level to add to her two bumper successes and maiden hurdle win.
