Meishar who only made his debut this spring at the age of five, is certainly making up for lost time and recorded his second win at Dundalk when taking the Hollywoodbets Now Streaming All Irish Racing Apprentice Handicap.

Owned and trained by James McAuley, who picked him up for just 3,000 guineas last year, the son of Exchange Rate was available at 16/1 this morning but following consistent support when off at just 7/1.

Luke McAteer ’s mount made most of the running and kept on well under pressure inside the final furlong to beat Hodd’s Girl by a length and a quarter with Misterio just a short-head further back in third.

McAuley said, “To be honest drawn in stall 16 and dropping back to six furlongs it was touch and go whether to bother running. I couldn’t believe how easy he got across and his stamina was always going to last out.

“He caught us off guard (on debut) at the Curragh where he ran a huge race. The wheels then half came off as he’s a big weak horse.

“Luke said the way the race was run at Punchestown the last day didn’t suit and he’s a horse that needs momentum and be able to use his stride. He could have won his last three races.

“His three runs up here now are second, first and first so he’ll be busy here during the winter.

“He definitely stays a mile and he had no bother there over six so he has plenty of options.”
