Niall Madden was a top-class jockey in his day and the Co Kildare-domiciled figure saddled his wife Patricia's Peruge to land the Waterford & Tramore Directors Handicap Hurdle at Tramore yesterday. Partnered by the couple's son Niall, Peruge struck the front at the second last to beat Conobar by four lengths.

Catherine Gannon drew level with Pat Cosgrave in the apprentice championship by piloting a double. She returned to the number one spot with Stuttgart in the first division of the Event-Full Venue Handicap. Stuttgart is trained by Eddie Lynam and she will be kept to the smaller handicaps.

Dubliner Gannon then combined with her boss John Oxx to capture the Guillamene Maiden with Habariya. Owned by His Highness Aga Khan, Habariya came home by a dozen lengths from Outside Investor.

Pat Cosgrave meanwhile landed the second section of the Event-Full Venue Handicap with Honky Tonk Woman which had to then survive a stewards enquiry whilst Billy Lee brought Jimmy Spot On with a well-timed challenge to deny Pollardsfield in the Unecol Oil Handicap.

Autumn Mist recorded his third career success by effortlessly getting the better of Mister Euro in the Gain Horse Feeds Handicap Chase. The 'Dusty' Sheehy-trained Autumn Mist was partnered by Garrett Cotter and the duo ultimately triumphed by a smooth eleven lengths.

Bellingham dispensed with his maiden tag over flights by getting the better of Banraft in the opening www.tramore-racecourse.com Maiden Hurdle. Partnered by Garrett Cotter,the Irene Oakes-trained Bellingham led from the third last to score by four lengths.

Deauville vindicated the promise that he showed when finishing fifth on his most recent start at Roscommon by collecting the Gain Recovery Plus Ladies Flat Race with Louise Boswell. Deauville incidentally is by none other than Sadler's Wells.
