Review TRALEE 20TH JUN

Paul Nolan and Ruby Walsh both recorded doubles at Tralee with the pair combining successfully with Adastra Lad.

The Beneficial gelding initiated the braces for the pair when claiming the Barrys Bakery Handicap Hurdle.

Walsh produced the 11/2 shot to lead at the second last and he stayed on strongly to score by two lengths from Old Ironside.

'He just doesn't go on soft ground,' Nolan said of the winner. 'I had him pretty fit today and don't expect him to improve much for the run.'

The double came for Nolan when stable conditional Alain Cawley partnered Great Chaos (10/1) to success in the Ladbrokes Handicap Hurdle.

The 18-year-old, who was partnering just his second winner, delivered the gelding to lead before the straight and kept him going well to score by a length-and-a-half from First Fix.

'He's a horse that works very well at home and seems to have come on from his last run. He could go for a handicap at Galway,' said Nolan.

Walsh landed number two when Anseo (3/1jf) was gifted the Best Dressed Ladies Beginners Chase after a heavy fall by Geill Sli.

Gerry Stack's charge was challenging the front-runner, when he crashed out at the penultimate flight, and was left to come home unopposed.

Denis O'Regan was stood down for the rest of the meeting after the fall from Geill Sli, who tragically suffered fatal injuries.

Teo Perugo has his sights set on Galway following an easy success in the Denny Handicap Chase.

Amateur Richard McLernon partnered his first winner 'on the track' when kicking clear four out on the gelding for a comfortable 13-length victory over Glenbane Lady.

'He'll go to Tipperary for the Galway Plate trial (July 22nd). He's improving all the time and I'm looking forward to Galway,' said winning trainer Eugene O'Sullivan.

Young Patriarch was equally impressive when claiming the O'Keeffe Marquees Hire Handicap Chase by eight lengths from Family Affair.

Drive On was a convincing winner of the opening Welcome To Tralee Maiden Hurdle when powering clear from the second last for a five-and-a-half length victory over Missatrick.

There was drama in the bumper with three coming down before the home straight. Coolnacarriga avoided the melee to finish well under Sean O'Brien and make a winning debut.
