Review LISTOWEL 18th Sep Jessica Harrrington's Quartino (7-1) put up a smart performance to win the Guinness Handicap Hurdle at Listowel.Barry Geraghty's mount was held up early but he made smooth progress when the race started to get serious, and after hitting the front two flights from home, he stuck to his task in determined fashion and was driven out to hold the fast-finishing Sanglote at bay by a length and a quarter.Emotional Article made every yard to land the three-runner Southampton Goodwill Chase under Adrian Joyce.Tom Taaffe's 6-4 joint favourite jumped well at the head of affairs and after setting only a modest early gallop, he kicked on as they turned into the straight for the second time.Conna Castle looked a threat coming to the last, but he was let down by jumping to his right throughout the race and Emotional Article stayed on well to record a three-and-a-half-length success, with twelve-year-old Rathgar Beau not beaten far in third.The Helena Sheahan Memorial Novice Chase went the way of Holly Tree and Ruby Walsh.Dusty Sheehy's 11-4 chance took over in front from early leader Boleybawn Quikstar when Banna Man fell three fences out and he went on to beat Clew Bay Lodge by an easy seventeen lengths.Ruby Walsh completed a swift double as Conem (7-1) stylishly won the Dawn Omega Milk Hanicap Hurdle by nine lengths.He could be seen travelling particularly well on the first circuit and after cruising into contention and hitting the front over the second-last, he soon put the race to bed.Toomdeely registered a pillar-to-post victory in the T P Walsh Memorial Handicap Hurdle.Brian Byrnes let the 14/1 shot bowl along in front and after pulling well clear from the chasing Arkendale, he was not for catching and ultimately scored by an impressive fifteen lengths.© www.irish-racing.com
