Michael Kinane secured his twelfth championship with a treble on the final day of the Flat season at Leopardstown this afternoon.
He claimed an early advantage over Johnny Murtagh when predictably winning the 2yo maiden on Salt Lake City with his championship rival taking the runner-up spot on Ask My Lady.
Although the odds-on favourite ran out a comfortable winner, he drifted badly right in the closing stages and in doing so took many lengths off his winning margin.
Kinane went two clear and put an early end to Murtagh's championship ambitions when bringing Bermaho from well off the pace to take the nursery in a tight finish.
Kinane's mount ran on well inside the final furlong to win by half a length from outsider Woodstamp.
Although Murtagh was on the 9/2 favourite Kooyong, he could only finish a never dangerous sixth.
And the title finally went beyond Murtagh's reach when Kinane enjoyed an easy victory on Yesterday in the Listed Eyrefield Stakes, taking his tally to 79 winners.
The 6/4 favourite swept past the Murtagh-ridden Eklim a furlong out and pulled clear for an impressive four length success.
Kinane said, 'Myself and Johnny have had a great tussle over the past few weeks. I have an outstanding job and I really enjoy it and I hope I stay injury free.'
Just Special finished strongly to win the Listed Knockaire Stakes for trainer Michael Grassick and Kevin Manning who replaced Eddie Ahern.
Ahern was late to arrive at the course after the taxi bringing him from Dublin Airport broke down after driving through flood water on the road.
Bubble N Squeak gave young Sean Cleary a second valuable late season success when just holding on to win the Leopardstown November Handicap for Francis Flood.
The 20/1 outsider (as stable companion The Culdee was backed from 14/1 to 10/1) raced clear in the straight but tired considerably close home as both Queens Wharf and race favourite Beef Or Salmon ran on.
Twenty one year old Cleary, who was riding his tenth winner of the season, also won the Birdcatcher at Naas last month.
Masnada won the Heather Road Race for the third successive time when proving too strong for Moonbi Ridge (Kinane) and disappointing favourite Chartres (Murtagh).
Nutley King appreciated the step up in trip when winning the 1m handicap under Fran Berry. Jim Gorman's 12/1 chance won by 3/4l from Mr Houdini, the mount of Kinane.
Tadhg O'Shea, the season's leading apprentice, took the concluding race of the year when Golden Cross completed a hat-trick of wins in the 12f handicap.
