< Steip Amach sprung a surprise as she floored the Ballydoyle hotpot Royal Navy Ship to take the feature Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown.

Beaten into third when favourite for a Navan maiden last time, Jim Bolger's highly regarded filly was sent off the outsider of four at 12-1 for the Group Three contest and raced in rear as the 1-6 favourite took them along.

Royal Navy Ship produced disappointingly little when asked to quicken up in the straight and Kevin Manning brought Steip Amach with a strong drive down the outside to lead inside the final furlong for victory by three-quarters of a length.

Bolger and Manning were quickly on the mark again when Answered running for the first time since the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial in May, took the Listed Trigo Stakes in the Godolphin colours.

The 9-2 chance challenged for the lead at the same time as the favourite Vote Often and the pair engaged in a gripping duel through the final furlong before Answered forged a neck ahead.

Aidan O'Brien's juvenile Giovanni Canaletto (4-7 favourite) looks an exciting prospect for next season judged on his scintillating victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden, in which he swooped down the outside with a devastating burst to stretch six and a half lengths clear under Seamie Heffernan.< Unsinkable had dropped like a stone in the ratings after a poor season but having transferred from Britain to the Ger Lyons yard, he was backed into 11-2 favourite for the Leopardstown Handicap and won as he liked, storming away under Tom Madden to score by two and three-quarter lengths.

David Wachman's 7-2 chance Off Limits was an eyecatching fourth on her debut and stepped up to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, though it was a close call as she got up in the shadow of the post under Billy Lee to win by a short head.

Gary Carroll produced the Willie McCreery-trained Duke Ellington (16-1) with a late charge to take the www.leopardstown.com Nursery by a length and a quarter.
