Review LEOPARDSTOWN 30TH OCT

Frank Ennis rounded off the Flat season in style when saddling his first group winner with Confuchias at Leopardstown.

The Cape Cross colt swooped on the outside in the final furlong to claim the Group 3 Killavullan Stakes under Willie Supple.

The winner had to check early in the straight when Albert Einstein veered right but was soon back into his stride and went on for a cosy three-parts-of-a-length victory over the Ballydoyle colt.

Ennis, who has enjoyed a memorable season with his juveniles, was sending out his last runner of the year on the Flat.

'He's a nice horse and did it well. He shows plenty of pace at home.' said the Curragh handler. 'He'll go home now for the winter.'

The powerful Ballydoyle brigade was out of luck in the feature but claimed the two juvenile maidens on the card.

Uimhir A Haon stayed on gamely in the closing stages to hold the persistent challenge of Truly Mine by a length-and-three-quarters in the fillies' maiden.

Archipenko confirmed the promise of his recent second at the Curragh when running out an impressive six length winner of the colts' maiden.

Arch Rebel was also a stylish winner of the Trigo Stakes, scoring by three lengths from Bon Nuit in the Listed contest.

Johnny Murtagh produced the gelding with a storming run to lead over a furlong out and he galloped on strongly to put the result beyond doubt.

Talihoya came between two rivals close home to get up in the Hawthorn Handicap for Rory Cleary and Michael Halford.

Accentuate flew home on the stands rail to claim the Blue Cross Nursery while Abbey Grammer also came up the near side when a cosy winner of the J.R.A. Handicap.

Paul Carberry partnered a double at Galway courtesy of Kahuna and Aitmatov.

Kahuna went clear before the turn in the Killanin Stand Design Team Handicap Chase but tired badly in the closing stages as Cane Brake closed to four lengths.

Aitmatov was an easy winner of the opening Connacht Court Maiden Hurdle, leading at the last to score by two-and-a-half lengths from Gripit N Tipit.

The veteran Adamant Approach was given a well-timed ride by Patrick Mullins to claim the www.swordsecurity.com QR Race in good style.

Foligold stayed on well in the closing stages to score in the Diamond Vision Novice Hurdle as 4/7f Arrive Sir Clive finished only a disappointing fourth.
