Johnny Murtagh extended his lead in the jockey's championship to twelve with a 2,859/1 four-timer, capturing the opening quartet of races.

Two of the success' were for Ger Lyons. Petite Cherie set the ball rolling in the first, leading a furlong out and staying on well under pressure to beat District Six by a length and a half.

A 39/1 double for Lyons was completed an hour and a half afterwards. Here Murtagh got the newcomer Harper Valley up on the line to beat Man With A Plan.

Third in the rider's table, Pat Smullen was aboard both District Six and Man With A Plan and he also had to settle for the runner-up berth behind Murtagh in the other maiden.

The Co. Meath native was on Noplacelikehome for Tom Mullins in this three and four year old event and he was all out to hold on from odds-on favourite, Laywaan.

Longest priced of the four was the three-year-old handicap victor, Princess Triptych. This 10/1 shot led before the straight and went on to triumph by a length and a half for Eddie Lynam.

The former multiple champion was foiled in his bid for five in the mile and a half handicap, his mount Faithlegg Girl having to make-do with third behind Real Empire.

Tom McCourt and Chris Hayes teamed-up with this daughter of Second Empire who bounced back to form after two ordinary efforts since a Wexford win in May.

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen eventually had a bit of luck when Caheerloch for Ballylinch Stud proved best in the Kilkenny Handicap.

Noel Dooly from Tramore saddled his second winner when Jemmy's Flame took the apprentice h'cap. For rider Kieran O'Neill it was an initial win at the 27th attempt.

Sire of Jemmy's Flame, Grand Lodge was also responsible for the victor of the second divide of this race, Blackhall Claw crediting Sean Treacy and Emmet Butterly with a success.
