Jim Bolger introduced a filly out of the top drawer at Gowran Park yesterday where Siringas recorded a runaway victory in the Bagenalstown EBF Maiden.
The daughter of Barathea was sent to the front over two furlongs out by Kevin Manning, and really appreciated the mile trip by drawing right away in the closing stages to beat Elbader by 13 lengths. Hawkeye, an uneasy evens favourite from the Aidan O'Brien stable, was a further neck back in third.
'She is a filly with a future but if there is considerable weight loss after today she will not run again this season,' said Bolger, indicating that the filly has not stood up well to training.
Championship leader Pat Smullen recorded his 57th winner of the season - now six clear of John Murtagh - when Cedar Du Liban gained a workmanlike success in the Leighlin EBF Nursery. 'She was bought at the Doncaster St Leger yearling sales last year with a view to running in the sales race there next Wednesday,' said trainer Dermot Weld.
Liffeydale, who scored in fine style at Sligo on Tuesday, recorded her second win in the space of 48 hours when beating Master Cooper by half a length under Mary Williamson in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap. 'She had to run once she came out of the Sligo race well,' said trainer Willie Bourke, who added: 'She will have a break before going to Listowel.'
