Review GOWRAN PARK 23RD NOV

The novice hurdle always looked likely to create most interest on yesterday's card at Gowran Park and so it proved as Adarma put up an impressive performance in running out a six length victor.

Making all the running under Alan Crowe, the drifting second favourite was much too good for the gambled on 'jolly', Stamcumny Bridge who found 6/4 from an opening chalk of 3/1.

Paddy Power clipped the odds on the J P McManus-owned five-year-old for the Sun Alliance Hurdle from 25/1 into 20/1 and Christy Roche said of his charge in the aftermath, 'I hope she'll keep improving and after walking the track beforehand we decided to race wide in search of better ground'.

Earlier Hit The Net had initiated a brace for McManus and Crowe. Holding outstanding claims on his bumper form in the opening maiden hurdle and those who availed of an offer of 8/11 weren't disappointed.

Sent off 4/6 favourite, Crowe needed to go to work on the Tommy Stack-trained gelding before the last but the jumping debutante ultimately recorded a snug enough length win over Delaza.

Johnny Cullen was also in double form, the Wexford rider teaming up with different trainers to land his brace.

Most noteworthy of the pair was Delgany Rose's triumph in the two mile four handicap hurdle. Supported from 4/1 into 9/4 favouritism, Cullen set out to make all aboard the daughter of Roselier and showing great stamina she kept going resolutely to record a three and a half length success for trainer, Joe Crowley.

Benjis Treasure didn't go un-backed as third market choice in the maiden hurdle. Johnny Cullen gave Declan Leigh's charge a good drive on the run in to secure a two length win. He then had to survive a stewards' enquiry after hampering the runner-up Stitches in the closing stages.

Sam Curling, working for Frances Crowley since the beginning of August partnered his first winner for the yard when Francys Fancy took the two mile handicap hurdle. Having his second start since leaving Charles Byrnes, the Jurado gelding was an easy to back 10/1 shot but ran out a convincing three length winner.

Rose Perk made all to come home an unchallenged winner of a grief-stricken novice chase under Michael Darcy for trainer, Eamonn Sheehy whilst Shane McGovern and Tom Taaffe combined with Secret Native who ran out a ready winner of the closing handicap chase.
