Review GOWRAN PARK 5TH OCT

Timarwa returned to form to take the Group 3 Denny Cordell & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes and, in the process, completed a double on the afternoon for John Oxx and Michael Kinane.

The Daylami filly (7/2-2/1fav) was always close to the pace and kept on well under pressure from the furlong pole to hold Many Colours by half a length.

'The good, strong pace made a difference and she battled it out well. She didn't get her ground earlier in the season and really wants it even faster than it was there,' said Oxx.

He added, 'She's a Group 3 winning filly now and I don't think she'll stay in training next year, although no decision has been made on that just yet.'

Really Ransom initiated a 32/1 double for the Oxx/Kinane combination when coming from last to first in the I T B A (South East Region) EBF Nursery.

The first-time blinkered daughter of Red Ransom found plenty under pressure for Kinane to catch Slaney Rock in the final strides, with Dick Morris just a head away in third.

'She travelled much better in the blinkers today and when Michael pulled her out to the fresh ground she flew home,' said the Currabeg trainer.

Reigning champion Declan McDonogh partnered his 66th winner of the season when Mr Medici (4/1-3/1) justified good support in the mile juvenile maiden.

The Kevin Prendergast-trained colt was always prominent and driven clear from over a furlong out to beat Mon Champion by three lengths.

'I don't think he was letting himself down on the all-weather at Dundalk last time. He was always travelling well today and probably liked the little bit of juice in the ground,' said McDonogh.

Willie Supple was also in double form, and kicked off his brace with Mojito Royale who gained a deserved victory in the opening seven furlongs maiden.

Eoin Doyle's charge, in the money on all five previous starts, was produced to challenge the front-running End Of The Affair early in the straight and stayed on well to score by 1 1/2L.

Supple gave Mull On The Run a strong drive in the extended 9f handicap, leading down the centre of the course over a furlong out and staying on well to beat Bouchard by 1 1/2L.

Ado McGuinness recorded a notable 1-2 in division two of the seven furlongs handicap, with Distant Piper winning here for the second time in less than 24 hours.

The four-year-old filly quickened up nicely a furlong out for talented apprentice Martin Harley to beat stable-companion Silly Dancer by three lengths.

Kieren Fallon took division one aboard Reload, who led over a furlong out to beat Teachers Choice by a length and a half.

There was drama just after the line as Chris Hayes was unseated from the runner-up, who was probably spooked by a helicopter landing in the centre of the track.

Wordly Wise sent favourite backers home happy when sent clear early in the straight by Danny Grant before holding on by 1 1/4L from Migmatite in the concluding 9f handicap.
