Review GOWRAN PARK 19TH OCT

Trebles for Noel Meade and Paul Carberry lit up proceedings as the pair firstly combined to capture two sections of the three way split-up maiden hurdle.

The Dotted Line got things rolling for the Co. Meath duo, heading Siegemaster before the last in the 2.35, staying on well to have a 1 1/2L in hand over that opponent at the finish.

Put in at odds-on by some layers early in the day, Signatory ultimately didn't even go off market-leader for the 3.05 but the J P McManus owned son of Kris S defied any apparent lack of confidence.

After making smooth headway two out, the 5/2 shot led at the last and very easily accounted for Miss Aurelia by 1 1/4L. Meade's charge had been operated on for his wind over the summer.

In the second heat of the mares, Sunshine Guest exploited a favourable mark with a 14L demolition of the field for Carberry and Michael Grassick. She was backed from 7/2 into 11/4.

That completed an approximate 84/1 three-timer for Paul. Sister Nina stepped-in to round-off a memorable afternoon for the Carberry clan and for their boss, Noel Meade, in the bumper.

Odds of 15/8 this morning didn't last long about newcomer, Goldmar for the finale. This well-bred French gelding didn't let his backers down, winning by 3/4L.

Jessica Harrington saddled another winner in the opener when the well-supported John's Eliza (10s this morning before the defection of 7/4 joint fav Gem Daly) justified on track backing from 7s into 11/2.

Under Andrew Leigh, the Dr Massini mare made virtually all, having things to herself in the straight, going on to beat Gold Sequin by 5 1/2L.

It was a quick reappeance for John's Eliza who pulled up with a slipped saddle on Sunday last. Scavenger, the 11/8 fav, made slight mistakes at the 6th and 4 out and could only manage 7th.

Henry De Bromhead also has his string in fair order and Chartani, 14s this morning into 10/1, comfortably took division one of the mares h'cap hurdle in the hands of Michael Darcy.

The locals had something to cheer about in the beginners chase as the Sandra McCarthy owned and trained Eye Candy proved best by 1 1/2L over Optimus Prime. David Casey was on the 8/1 winner.
