Review gowran park 12th Dec

Trainer Willie Mullins kept it in the family when enjoying a double at Gowran Park.

The County Carlow handler had success with Cadspeed ridden by his son Patrick while his nephew Emmett steered Quiscover Fontaine to victory.

Quiscover Fontaine got the trainer off the mark when justifying evens favouritism with a half-a-length call over Kandari in the Xmas Vouchers Gowran Golf Shop Maiden Hurdle.

Mullins said: "The horse rallied very well and Emmett gave him a lovely ride. I was worried about bringing him back from to two and a quarter miles.

"He's come on for his last run and will probably go for a winner's race over Christmas."

In contrast, Cadspeed (11-4) had 26 lengths to spare over runner-up Knight Realm in the 22nd Jan-Thyestes Day at Gowran Flat Race.

"He'll go for a winners' bumper next and he'll go jumping sooner rather than later," said the trainer.

"He's a stayer in the making and is stoutly bred."< El Presidente (4-1) made a successful debut over jumps in the Fancy A Festive Flutter 3-Y-O Hurdle.

Michael Halford's charge led before the second last and held Manor Park by four lengths in the hands of Paddy Flood.

"He was a good horse on the Flat and did it well today. He jumped well for his first run over hurdles and he enjoyed himself," said Halford.

"He'll handle better ground than this as well and he'll probably run somewhere over Christmas."

Tom Doyle got On The Way Out the 5-4 favourite, up close home to deny Hazeymm by a length and a quarter in the Michael McNamara Memorial Novice Hurdle.

"He's a tough horse. He needed the testing ground to compensate for the trip that was too short for him, two and a half miles is his trip," said trainer John Kiely.< Weapon's Amnesty the 2-1 joint favourite, opened his account in the Gowran Park Racing Club 2009 Maiden Hurdle.

"He had to win that as the race didn't amount to much," said trainer Charles Byrnes.

"He needs a trip, but I've no ambitious plans. He'll make a three-mile chaser one day."
