Review FAIRYHOUSE 23RD JUL

Hugh Bowman is likely to have fond memories of Premier Dane after the colt gave him his first winner outside his native Australia at Fairyhouse last night.

The jockey's quite style proved effective as he got the Kevin Prendergast-trained juvenile home by a head. Bowman has ridden 550 winners 'down under' but his current working holiday here is his first trip abroad.

Prendergast doubled up when Doctor Kananga (10/1) finished with a flourish to take the Commons Nursery under Declan McDonogh.

McDonogh himself was recording a 186 to 1 double as he had earlier scored aboard 16 to 1 shot Kilbride King in the Club Fundraising Events Handicap.

Rio De Janeiro (11/8) won his maiden for the second time, following his disqualification at the Curragh last Saturday, when claiming the Put Your Name Here Maiden despite drifting right across the track close home.

Aidan O'Brien had earlier scored with Desert Tigress (1/3f) in the opening two-year-old maiden at Cork.

Misty Mountain (2/5f) was withdrawn after refusing to load in the opener at Fairyhouse. Lucayan Star eventually took the contest, beating Inspectors Choice by two lengths.

The winning trainer Michael Halford also had an across the card double when Cupids Ray took the Cork Barbeque Evening Handicap.
