Those who took the prohibitive odds about the Willie Mullins-trained Our Matti in the Slievenamon Maiden Hurdle had their fingers burnt when the 1-3 market leader could only fill the runner-up spot.
Ruby Walsh moved his mount into contention on the long run to the penultimate flight, but he was hard at work to do so and jumped the last a length adrift of Storm Plan.
Walsh conjured another effort out of the seven-year-old on the run-in but he ran out of time and passed the post one and a half lengths behind the 10-1 winner.
The Mullins/Walsh combination again had to play second fiddle when Sports Line couldn't match Top Of The Rock for speed in the closing stages of the Powerstown Maiden Hurdle.
Mark Bolger dictated terms to suit himself on the 5-4 favourite and although the Jessica Harrington-trained gelding ploughed through the last, he was always in command and cleared away to score by five lengths.
Grapevine Sally (11-4) shed her fencing duck at the fourth attempt in the Clonmel Beginners Chase.
Third on her last two starts, she tracked the leaders in the hands of Andrew McNamara and quickened nicely at the business end to score by eight lengths, with Mullins and Walsh again hitting the bar with favourite Orge D'Ete.
Mystical Breeze returned from a two-year absence when down the field at this venue at the start of the month, but showed the benefit of that outing when springing a surprise in the Suir Handicap Hurdle.
The 25-1 shot struck the front before the last and was kept up to his work by Tom Doyle to dispose of long-time leader Brandam by one and a quarter lengths, while Right Now (16-1) stole a march on his rivals down the back straight on the way to leaving some indifferent form behind him in the Lisronagh Handicap Chase.
