Noel Meade could be double handled in this years Tattersalls Gold Cup, with last years winner Helvic Dream set to join the exciting Layfayette.
The latter, who ran out an impressive winner of Mondays Moorebridge Stakes, needs to be supplemented for the group one contest, something connections are giving serious consideration to.
The pair have already clashed once this season, with Layfayette coming out on top when they met in the Alleged Stakes last month. However, Helvic Dream was making his seasonal debut on that occasion, so is entitled to improve.
Meade had planned to run Helvic Dream last Monday only for the weather to scupper plans, “I was beating myself up all weekend for not declaring Helvic Dream in the Mooresbridge Stakes.
“He’s jumping out of his skin but we made a decision on Friday that the ground wouldn’t be soft enough for him.
“He’ll probably go straight for the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
“There was a race in France we were looking at but the trouble is going to France and then not getting the ground.
“I wouldn’t be afraid of going back to a mile and one or even chancing a mile.”
