Meade´s Cheltenham plans taking shape

Zum See is likely to take his chance in the Festival opener, the Supreme Novices Hurdle, after easily justifying favouritism in the Betfair sponsored novice hurdle at Naas this afternoon.

The five-year-old gelding was confidently ridden by Paul Carberry to beat Corrib Boy by two lengths, and trainer Noel Meade said, ´He has scoped badly on a number of occasions in the past year including when runner-up to Sadlers Wings at Navan last time. We tried different treatment this time and it seems to have worked. He´s in the Supreme Novices´, and he´d like good ground.´

The Navan trainer also reported that he worked four of his leading Festival hopes after racing at his local track yesterday.

´We worked Rosaker, Harbour Pilot, Mark The Man and Watson Lake over a mile and three quarters and they all went nicely finishing up together. Mark The Man would need some cut in the ground to go for the SunAlliance.´

Meade hopes to run both Power Elite and Wild Passion in the Triumph Hurdle, while Harchibald (County Hurdle) and Strong Run (Grand Annual) are also part of his Cheltenham team.

Aintree Grand National hero Monty´s Pass showed alot more sparkle than his previous hurdle run at Gowran Park, staying on one-paced in the straight to finish a respectable eighth of 14.
