Jockey Andrew McNamara edged back to the head of the Jockeys’ Championship when completing a double on Shot From The Hip in the Bord Na Mona Clean Air Maiden Hurdle at Leopardstown today.
McNamara, who earlier partnered Sailors Warn to win, moved onto the 48 winner mark for the season – one ahead of Paul Carberry who was earlier successful on Realt Dubh
Shot From The Hip’s trainer Edward O’Grady subsequently stated “I am pleased and relieved after that! Andrew felt he wasn’t suited by making his own running but that was just the way things worked out.”
“Hopefully he’ll prove good enough to go to Cheltenham for something but I’ll talk with JP (McManus, owner) and decide plans. He’ll have one more run before Cheltenham anyway.”
