Andrew McNamara continues to lead the way at the head of the Jockeys’ Championship and the Limerick rider partnered his 33nd winner of the season on Having A Cut in the Kiltoom Handicap Chase at Roscommon today.
McNamara produced the former winning hunter chaser to lead two out, eventually holding the challenge of top weight Duers by half a length.
Afterwards winning trainer Edward O’Grady stated “Having A Cut didn’t seem to come up the hill at Galway the last day and just about got home today where the flatter track suited better. We’ll go for something similar again next and it is some compensation for owner J.P. McManus for the loss of Money Belt which was put down following an injury suffered at Clonmel yesterday.”
The win moved McNamara onto the 33 winner mark for the season, seven clear of nearest rival Paul Carberry at the head of the Jockeys’ Championship.
