Ado McGuinness reports that Tiger Belle is on course for a tilt at the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Santa Anita next month.
The Cotai Glory filly has enjoyed a fine season for her owners Shamrock Thoroughbreds and is set to go on her travels again having won a Group 3 contest at Longchamp in late August.
That was her second stakes success, following on from a Listed win at Naas, and connections will pitch her in at the top level now in the US.
“She’ll work on Sunday morning and again before she gets on the plane. She’s in great form and it’s all systems go,” said McGuinness at Dundalk last night.
He also gave foreign plans for some of his other stable stars in the coming weeks:-
“Rush Queen will go to Deauville next Thursday for a Group 3 and Go Athletico goes to Chantilly the week after that for a Group 3.
“We’ll be on tour but we’re looking forward to it and we’re lucky to have the horses to do it.”
Hopping across the water to England today is Laugh A Minute, who runs in the York Coral Sprint Trophy at 2.25pm this afternoon.
The Mayson gelding was a winner on his most recent start at the Curragh and was second in the same race at York in 2021.
“Laugh A Minute was second in the same race in York two years ago and has the same draw as he had that time.
“There is a nice ease in the ground which should suit and Adam (Caffrey) rides him again. He gets on really well with him and fingers crossed he’ll put up a big performance. There is a big pot of money on offer.
“Current Option was due to run in Chester but the meeting has been called off. It’s a pity as I think the track would have suited him and he’d won on soft.”
Closer to home McGuinness is hoping for a big run from Perfect Judgement in the Birdcatcher Nursery at Naas today.
The Inns Of Court gelding has been placed in three of his four runs and the Lusk handler said:-
“He works well at home and he’s run into some good horses in his maidens so we’ve decided to switch him to a handicap with the good pot of money.
“He ran on soft ground the first day and finished second so hopefully he won’t be too far away.
“No More Porter and Spanish Tenor both run in the seven-furlong handicap at Naas.
“I think No More Porter will run well. He’s like an ATM collecting money but he’s just not getting the main pot all year. He’s been placed in some big handicaps and hopefully he’ll get his head in front here.
“Spanish Tenor won the last day but I suppose the handicapper will always catch a horse like him. He’s running well, is in good order and will handle the ground.”
