McGarvey completes Listowel double The Niall Madden trained Travertine continued the good recent run of form of J.P. McManus owned horses when winning the Old Weir Handicap Hurdle at Listowel today, thus completing a double on the day for jockey Jody McGarvey. McManus’ horses won three races at Kilbeggan yesterday and McGarvey was adding Travertine’s success to an earlier win on the John Nicholson trained Swift. Afterwards McManus’ racing manager Frank Berry stated “he came home well at Fairyhouse the last day and the rain that fell last night was a big help today. “He threatened to win one of those and it was nice to get it. We’ll find another handicap next.” By Tom Weekes
