McDonogh now two from two on Pulse Pulse Of Shanghai followed up his course and distance win from just over a month back, in the concluding Crowne Plaza Hotel Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap at Dundalk. Again Declan McDonogh was in the plate on Kieran Cotter’s charge, and the 8/1 winner broke well and led early. Joined after a couple of furlongs, Pulse Of Shanghai led again entering the straight. He went clear a furlong and a half out, pushed along and staying on well in the final furlong to defeat Merchant Of Venice by a length and three parts. The runner-up is a nice new recruit for the Ado McGuinness team, as is the third, Faakhirah. We lost Benedict Roezl at the start here as he reared leaving stalls and unseated Mark Enright. Winning trainer Cotter was on lead-up duties. M.A. Enright, rider of Benedict Roezl, trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lunged forward and unseated him as the stalls opened. L.F. Roche, rider of Limit Long (GB) trained by D.J. Bunyan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was struck into by a loose horse. (GC & EM)
