McCreery's filly gives Crosse a double Listed-placed Loveday gained a first win in Cork's Irish EBF Auction Series (Fillies) Maiden today, scoring for trainer Willie McCreery, his wife and owner/breeder Amanda and providing jockey Nathan Crosse with a double. The daughter of Bungle Inthejungle was placed on each of her four previous starts, including a runner-up effort in the Listed Gain First Flier Stakes at the Curragh in May. Jockey Crosse was earlier successful on the Michael Browne trained The Cola Kid, with Loveday (11/4jf) quickening smartly to score easily by four and a quarter lengths. Afterwards McCreery reported “she had good form, was the highest rated filly in it and Nathan gave her a lovely controlled ride. I took the visors back off her today and after her last race I threw her out for three weeks and she didn't get a drop of rain for three weeks. “It was her first time on proper fast ground today and she hopped off it and had her ears pricked the whole way - I loved the way she did it. She has natural speed, which is very hard to train and I told Nathan not to take that away from her.” He added “I targeted this race as she has Listed placed form and we bred her and have a full sister at home. We weren't getting enough for her in the sales and Maurice Burns, who looked after her, said not to let her go for under €30,000 and we didn't. “Amanda is happy out and is after ringing just now — a happy wife is a happy life!” Today's win brought Loveday's career earnings, neatly, to €29,300.
