McCreery's Blenheim Stakes winner is Royal Ascot bound Willie McCreery is dreaming of Royal Ascot with his Lethal Promise after the filly landed the featured Listed Ballyhane Blenheim Stakes at Fairyhouse today. The daughter of Invincible Spirit, bred at the Irish National Stud and owned by that stud's Breeding&Racing Club, disappointed in the Byerley Stud Stakes at Newbury last month but bounced back to form today when scoring a length and three parts success over Inverleigh. Winning jockey Bill Lee was completing a double on the day having earlier won on the Joe Murphy trained Gustavus Weston. Following Lethal Promise's important black-type success, trainer McCreery said “I'm really fond of this filly and I'd love to finish now with a view to going to Royal Ascot for the Commonwealth Cup with her next year; that's what I'm dreaming of. “I think we were just riding her wrong the last twice. We were trying to hold her up and make her get home and I think we cheesed her off a little bit. “Today she got six (furlongs) very well and she was going away from them at the line. It gives us a lot of hope for next year too because you don't want an out-and-out five furlong filly. “It's great for the team (Irish National Stud Breeding&Racing Club) and there are quite a few of them here today enjoying the day. “She's a good filly going forward and we'll let her grow into herself.” Quotes from Gary Carson
