Leggy Lad opened his account over fences in great style when cruising home to give amateur Michael McConville his first racecourse winner.
The 22-year-old from Portadown was partnerning the gelding for his father Stephen and the pair had attracted support from 20/1 this morning into 12/1.
The Denel gelding was handy throughout and moved up sweetly to challenge at the second last.
Long-time leader Yachvili had no answer when Leggy Lad asserted before the final fence and the winner just had to be shaken up on the run-in to record a cosy six-length victory.
"He's disappointed a few times and has had a few niggly injuries. We were just hopeful of a big run," said the winning rider afterwards.
McConville had previously partnered two winners in point-points.
The winner had been well beaten on his only previous start over fences but had shown ability over timber, including when winning a decent maiden hurdle at Naas.
