Trainer Kieran Cotter reports that stable star Matilta Picotte has been pleasing connections ahead of her eagerly anticipated return later this month.
The three-year-old daughter of Sioux Nation won twice as a juvenile, including at Listed level at Newmarket at the backend of last season.
However, it was her excellent third in the first fillies Classic at that aforementioned venue in May that really announced her arrival at the top level.
Following a slightly below par run in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock last time, the filly was given a mid season break in order to wait for some easier ground.
Kieran Cotter: “She worked this morning and they are all dancing in the yard.
“She could either go to Goodwood for a seven-furlong fillies race (Oak Tree Stakes) on the Wednesday or she might go for the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville.
“It will depend on the ground. If we get a cut in the ground it might be Goodwood but she will be out shortly.
“We’re delighted with her as she’s put on 30 kilos since her last run. She’s really matured.”
