Maidenstreetprince (15/2) fended off Sa Fureur to bring up a victory for Charles and Philip Byrnes in the Keith Lynch Memorial Maiden Hurdle in Limerick.

There were three horses jostling in behind the leader Maidenstreetprince between the final two flights but he put in a swift jump over the last to land running.

Sa Fureur (18/1) was the one who looked most threatening on the run-in, however he could only get to within a length and a quarter at the line. Aime Desjy came in third at 10/3, beaten three lengths by the winner.

Charles Byrnes said: "He had a good run the last day (in third at Punchestown) and was getting a few pounds today.

"He was a bit free and there is still a bit of room for improvement in his jumping. He stuck it out well and getting the bit of weight, with the bumper allowance and the 5lb claim, was a help in that ground.

"We'll go handicapping now."
