Ma Garrett (10/3) wore down I'm All You Need on the run-in to give John Nicholson and David Mullins victory in the two and a half mile mares' hurdle at Wexford.

Despite making a slight mistake at the penultimate flight, she improved to press the leader I'm All You Need (11/4) at the last. The pair raced track-width apart on the run-in but it was Ma Garrett, on the stands-side, who got on top in the closing stages to win by a length and three quarters. Back Before Dawn the 5/2 favourite, weakened before the straight and trailed home last of the five runners.

Handler John Nicholson said: "It was a good tough performance. Coming here today I thought she was better than before Fairyhouse. She would prefer a more galloping track and the ground was a bit dead for her. We will keep her novice hurdling and she has us a little bit excited. She has been a good mare and we won't run her for a month now.

"We will be looking at the good mares novice hurdles and we might get a trip across the water with her. We have something to aim for now. David gave her a good ride and the lads in the yard are working hard.

"Tom (owner Tom Gillson) came to us about two years ago. My father and himself were very pally and we get on great."
