Lady Gosford made it third time lucky in the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Naas today, justifying trainer Eddie Lynam's decision (albeit forced) to run the filly on the testing ground.
Ridden by Shane Foley, the daughter of Kheleyf stayed on well inside the final furlong to score a length and three quarters win over Spinacre
Afterwards Lynam said “I was very worried about the ground for Lady Gosford and like all trainers, I'm sick of it (the weather). However we just put our head down and ran her and its good to get the win.
“We'll see what mark she gets now – she has a very good pedigree and her dam is a half sister to Kalanasi.
“Shane (Foley) said she handled the ground well and she is owned by a good lad, Trevor Dalzell, who had French Emperor with me last year and he has been with me for years - its nice to get a win for him.”
