It was tough going at the conclusion of the Exit 6 To The Horse & Jockey Rated Novice Hurdle but Los Amigos endeared himself to favourite backers (fourth successful 'jolly' in five races) when scoring under Keith Donoghue at Thurles.
He took over from Kilcarry Bridge across the top of the track and good jumps at the final two hurdles partly enabled him to prevail by three parts of a length from the gritty Leavethelighton in second.
Back over flights after a good spell over fences, Jim Dreaper said of his charge, sporting the famous Mrs Pat Conway colours: "He won a restricted chase. In Ireland it's hard to win another after you've won one so it was the logical thing to come here (son Thomas credited for spotting the opportunity).
"He stays well and he's still only a six-year-old. He'll more than likely go back chasing."
The ebullient trainer also jokingly declared: "There should be one non-Mullins day in Ireland every year."
K.C. Sexton, rider of Catimini trained by Sean Byrne, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost her action and was pulled up.
