Breeders Cup-winning jockey Wayne Lordan recently returned from serious injury and this evening registered his first winner since June, on the Aidan O'Brien-trained Agenda (11/10f) in Dundalk's View Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Maiden.
Lordan, whose two classic wins have come in an English and Irish 1,000 Guineas, incurred fractures to his legs and elbow as well as arm laceration in a heavy fall in the Irish Derby last July and only returned to race-riding this month.
Riding Agenda today, Lordan moved the Galileo-sired colt to lead under two furlongs out, before he quickened smartly to beat 84-rated Huxley by 4.75 lengths.
Ballydoyle's representative Chris Armstrong reported “Wayne is a big part of the team and we have to say a massive thanks to the paramedics who attended to him at the Curragh, to Jennifer Pugh and all her team and all the various consultants, doctors and physios.
"It has been a long road back for him especially for his wife and his kids at home. In fairness, he got the best of care and worked hard over the winter on his fitness. He has been back with us since the first week of January and hopefully, it is a good season ahead for him."
Regarding Agenda Armstrong added “he had a lovely run as a two-year-old at the Curragh in a race that worked out nicely and has the makings of a lovely horse.
“He's still very babyish and raw and I think there is plenty of improvement but, when he gets there, he could be a nice one. Wayne gave him a lovely ride and we'll probably look at a trial for him next - he might be one for Chester."
