Lordan reflects on Wachman retirement Group 1 winning jockey Wayne Lordan today reflected on the surprise decision of trainer and employer David Wachman to retire. Lordan, who had steered the Tommy Stack trained Balcony to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Maiden, reported to Kevin O’Ryan on Attheraces, “he (Wachman) would have put a lot of thought into it and obviously it is what is best for him and his family and moving forward life goes on and you’ve to keep going. “I’m very grateful to him for giving me a lot of chances riding good horses and I’ll miss him. You have to move on though and something will open up. “We got on really well and he was a very straightforward fellow to work for - you’d never know he might be back.” Wachman, who enjoyed Group 1 wins in Ireland, England, France, USA and Canada, supplied Lordan with three Group 1 wins and the pair also combined to win the 2013 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot with Duntle.
