Lordan guides home Iseult despite late scare Ballydoyle filly Iseult Of Ireland powered clear down the straight to open her account in the nine-furlong fillies maiden at Gowran Park. Wayne Lordan got to the front after a couple of furlongs on the daughter of American Pharoah and asked her for an effort at the top of the straight. The 3/1 co-favourite kicked on a furlong-and-a-half from home and galloped on strongly in the closing stages to record a comprehensive eight-and-a-half length victory. There was a slight scare late on as Lordan lost his right iron but he guided his mount home for an easy win. He said afterwards:- “We were persisting as she’s a filly that works quite well at home and we always thought she was a filly that was going to win. “She finished second here earlier in the year, same ground and same trip, so back here today and she duly obliged. “She’s after strengthening up plenty as well. She has a beautiful pedigree and it’s nice to get her head in front.” It was a double on the card for Lordan, as he had also partnered 20/1 shot Pretty Lavish to success in the earlier fillies maiden.
